Health Risks You Can Face When Using Crystal Meth

As with any illegal drug, using crystal meth can cause psychological effects as well as physical risks. This
article will explain some of the health risks faced when chronic use of meth is evident.
If a person is cooking crystal meth in their home, they can be exposed to serious danger.
The toxic nature of doing this can expose your skin to chemical spills.
In addition to that, you can also get burns on your skin due to skin exposure.
If children are around, it's also dangerous for them because they can be exposed to chemical spills and burns as
well. It's easier for this to happen to them because of their curious nature.
You can also be at risk because when you're cooking, you automatically inhale effective amounts of the drug
itself. When you inhale the drug, it can result in chronic coughing, chest pains, breathing difficulties, and skin
burns.
The ingredients that you inhale can also cause you to become dizzy, incoherent or nauseated. If you are directly
dealing with chemicals, the ingredients can seep into your skin.
Due to the potency of crystal, the exposure to your body can prove to be life changing. Altering mood swings can
emerge, leaving people wondering how you're going to act from one moment to the next.
Since meth also affects your brain, you can experience seizures and other related neurological disorders. You
can also encounter cardiac arrest or even an unfortunate fatality.

In regard to your heart, using meth can cause it to operate at an accelerated rate. In addition to that, you can
experience high blood pressure or higher blood pressure than what you already have. A stroke can set in from damage
to your small blood vessels.
You heart lining can be damaged from constant use. You can contract pneumonia, tuberculosis, kidney disease or
liver disease.
| The Food and Drug Administration’s approval of buprenorphine (suboxone and
subutex) for treating addiction to heroin and other opioids, including prescription
painkillers, on October 8, 2002, marks a milestone in the National Institute on Drug Abuse
medication development program. |
People who inject crystal meth
expose themselves to blood diseases. You can be at risk for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV and full blown AIDS.
Drug users that use needles don't think about the consequences because they're judgment is clouded.
They put themselves and others at risk when they engage in things like sharing needles and unprotected sexual
activity. They're too focused on getting that next hit so they can feel good.
With little regard to health risks associated with crystal meth, the reasons for usage vary. Both male and
females have acknowledged using meth helps them have more energy.
| According to alcoholism research, at least 50% of the people who are arrested
for major crimes including assault, theft, and homicide were under the influence of illicit
drugs at the time of their arrest. Does this mean that the drugs provided the extra
"nerve" needed to do the criminal activity or that the drugs affected the logical thinking
ability of the criminals?" |
However, this "energy"
translates into lack of sleep. Some males seem to think that the drug gives them more endurance when they're
making out. Some females use it to attack fatigue and control their weight.
Even though there are other ways to do the things mentioned, they seem to feel justified in using meth
instead.
Using drugs costs, not just in money, but also your health. It's not a good feeling having to take different
medications the rest of your life just because you wanted to live the high life with illegal drugs.
| People can become addicted to illegal drugs and to drugs that doctors prescribe.
People can also become addicted to things they may not think of as drugs, such as smokeless
tobacco, the nicotine in cigarettes, or alcohol. Some drugs may result in addiction more
easily than other drugs. |

| Sometimes people do choose behaviors that have undesirable effects. Personal
responsibility and behavioral change are major components of any reputable drug and alcohol
treatment program. Addiction, not unlike type II diabetes, cancer, and heart disease, is a real
and complex disease. |

| There is no typical alcoholic or drug dependent person. The addict may be
single, married, divorced, or living with someone; may come from any ethnic or racial
background, may be male or female; may earn a lot or a little; may practice any religious
observance or none; may be young or old; may live any type of lifestyle; and may live in the
country, city, or in a suburb. |
| Living in a dysfunctional environment, where family members feel as if they have
to continuously "walk on egg shells" frequently leads to stress and anxiety. In fact,
stress levels and feelings of anxiety increase in such unhealthy homes due to the rigid and
inflexible norms, rules, and beliefs that are imposed on family members who are, in many
respects, "held hostage" in the current living arrangement. |
